EU Sustainable Energy Week – Shaping Europe’s Energy Future

As part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, the LIFE PlanUp project, together with EUROCITIES and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, will organise a session entitled:

NECPs: debating policy solutions to deliver a carbon-free EU

Time: Tuesday 18 June 14.00 – 15.30

Place: Salle Passage of the Residence Palace

Under the newly adopted governance regulation, EU Member States are required to elaborate and submit their national energy and climate plans (NECPs) for the period of 2021-2030.

This session will highlight the opportunities available to engage in the national elaboration of the NECPS and stress the benefits of involving civil society and local authorities in the NECP development process.

The session will draw from the results of our NECPs assessments, focusing on our five target countries (Spain, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Hungary). It will present available data as well as good practice examples in the buildings, agriculture, and transport sectors. It will further highlight the need to include different levels of subnational governments like cities and regions to deliver energy transition.

The event will be an opportunity to engage with different stakeholders and to participate in shaping Europe’s energy and climate future.
