Road charging for heavyweight delivery vehicles in Poland since 2001 has been promoting lorries with a higher quality of environmental class (EURO). Since 2006 heavyweight car fleet quality in Poland improved considerably - between 25 up to 30% of lorries in Poland are younger than 5 years. The solution might have resulted in a reduction of fuel consumption from each car, but traffic grew 8% yearly probably outperforming any fuel savings.
