Webinar: The NECPs and post-covid recovery plans: what are the main takeaways in the buildings and transport sectors?

Learning about the buildings and transport sectors’ best practices and role in the green transition.

Watch the webinar recording from Day 1 here and from Day 2 here.

See the presentations from both days here.

On 17 September, the European Commission presented the final assessment of the national energy and climate plans (NECPs) together with the proposal to increase the EU’s 2030 climate target to at least 55%. In May, a massive EU Recovery Package was launched, while Member States agreed in July to set at least 30% of the EU budget for 2021-2027 to climate.

The NECPs will be a key instrument both to deliver on climate ambition and ensure money is spent to facilitate the needed changes in the economy. But are they already fit for purpose? This two-day PlanUp webinar series will look at what this means for the buildings and transport sectors.

The first day’s session will present best practices as outlined in the national energy and climate plans (NECPs) of five EU countries - Italy, Spain, Romania, Hungary and Poland. We will analyse barriers for their implementation and propose ways to overcome them. We will also hear an update on the state of play and evaluation of the final plans from the European Commission.

The second day will be dedicated to the post-covid recovery plans and what they should include for the buildings and transport sectors to accelerate the green transition. We will have a Q&A on the EU Recovery Plan and hear two case study examples from Italy and Spain.
